These logs were narrative unlockables that fleshed out the world of Nullstar: Solus. My writing followed Pran Makubar, an engineer turned junior drone pilot, trying to survive the deadly conditions of the planet to pay for his wife&#8217;s medical bills. The wonderful art by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artstation.com\/cassandra_lee\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.artstation.com\/cassandra_lee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cassandra Lee<\/a> followed an art brief I designed myself, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anniemaywrites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Pran-Makubar-The-Engineer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Character Biography &#8211; Pran Makubar<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-kubio-color-6-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e1ce33989b0bba1df82fa7063398d3a1 wp-block-paragraph\">This character biography guided my writing journey on Nullstar: Solus. It was written in a format shown in &#8220;The Game Narrative Toolbox&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anniemaywrites.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/broken-roads-item-descriptions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Item Descriptions<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1c73be0e1da87f7012f7fa7f7bd75a07 wp-block-paragraph\">The item descriptions for Broken Roads are references to Australian culture to immerse players in the game&#8217;s post-apocalyptic world. I also collaborated with the team&#8217;s Indigenous Consultant on items related to Indigenous culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anniemaywrites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Life-and-Mind-Quest-Sample.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Life and Mind &#8211; Quest Sample<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d5db0051b32686df198e4a4ddd69f721 wp-block-paragraph\">This sample follows just one of the many paths players can take within the &#8216;Life and Mind&#8217; quest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anniemaywrites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/the-charnok-woman-test-plan-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Charnok Woman &#8211; Test Plan<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-bd029acff2af0f2a9dd54e52a5f586c8 wp-block-paragraph\">This test plan an example of the documentation I wrote for our external QA team. These test plans were formatted in a way to account for the branching paths of Broken Roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1gGjJ8_OUjUA0880zGyE1mnkoprUv-xmscKTBm-XWpKY\/edit?usp=drive_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Enemy Barks<\/a> \/<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1DIZtcreECBqShd9Z85GO3wWUcW2PB0UF?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1Y7SpcTzt93zMzZwQRZlJDu0uwj_r_xNQsbdJahIefzE\/edit?usp=drive_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Companion Barks<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3569bc24103307d522f2ec20565a1a30 wp-block-paragraph\">To raise player awareness during missions, they would hear a myriad of barks informing them of things like enemy alert levels, enemy behaviours, and reminders on certain mechanics such as healing. These barks were heavily inspired by Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 barks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1_CmpHr9-We0Z0rspu8Ik-vI0Z47QHAoR?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mission Briefings and Debriefings &#8211; Single-Player Campaign<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-90d33bd3182b29822a68861f901a4aee wp-block-paragraph\">At the start and end of every mission in Espire 2&#8217;s single-player campaign was a briefing or debriefing respectively. These &#8216;cutscenes&#8217; recapped the story, uncovered new narrative twists and turns, and acted as a way to excite players for the next mission they&#8217;d embark on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anniemaywrites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/espire-2-mission-briefings.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mission Select UI &#8211; Single-Player and Multiplayer Campaigns<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-be4e1f9f45731af61bd31ad5a8c0907d wp-block-paragraph\">The Mission Selection screen for Espire 2 had snappy briefings meant to emulate an espionage mission.
